The objective

What you are trying to do

Finish with the highest score by building connected valid words and using premium squares well.

01

Build from the rack

Place one or more tiles in a single row or column. The first play crosses the center; later plays connect.

02

Validate every word

The main word and all cross-words must exist in the server dictionary before the play scores.

03

Use the board

Letter and word premiums apply when covered, while using all seven rack tiles grants a bonus. Final score wins when tiles run out.

Server-authoritative guide

Complete rules for Word Tiles

These are the disclosed rules used by the room—not a simplified summary that changes once the match begins.

  1. 01

On your turn, place tiles from your rack to spell a word on the board.

  2. 02

The first word must cross the center star. Later words must connect to tiles already down.

  3. 03

Every word you form, including crossing words, must be valid.

  4. 04

Premium squares multiply letters or whole words. Use all 7 tiles for a bonus.

  5. 05

When the tiles run out, the highest score wins.

Modes & room settings

Every setting below is validated by the server. The default is marked so a new host knows exactly what will run without changing anything.

One complete ruleset

Classic setup—no hidden host modifiers

Word Tiles currently runs the complete rules shown above for every room. The host chooses who joins and when to start, but cannot silently change the board, scoring, or win condition.

Before your first match

Three useful habits

01

Keep flexible letters for future hooks instead of spending the whole rack on a weak lane.

02

Check every cross-word before committing a high-value tile.

03

A short word on a premium square can outscore a longer word placed in open space.
